Wikipedia has a nice description:
A QR code is a specific matrix bar code (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR bar code readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.

Why?

On TV, on paper even on radio you always have references to web sites.
Currently only the main page of the web site is shown everywhere it makes sense.
If you have an advertisement about a product, it’s not possible to provide a direct web link to its dedicated page on the web because the URL (web link) will be too long, no chance the customer will remember it.
QR code is solving this problem.

QR code can be

• GPS position
• visit card
• web link
• free text

With QR codes, customers can have direct link to

• a product description
• an event details
• a company web site
• an online newsletter
• a contact full address
• a promotion, a discount, a special offer

How?

You just need to scan the code with your smart phone and a bar code reader application.
In few second you will have a link you can click on, or a new contact in your contact list.

Where?

There are bar codes absolutely everywhere. In addition to them you can also have QR code

• on your visit card
  • a scan and the contact is in your contact list.
• on door of every shops
  • website of the shop; full address details,  hours
• on fliers
  • contact information, dedicated web page related to the event or product
• on printed documents
• on any products
• in your email signature

When?

As soon as marketing people will understand the power of QR code, you will see them absolutely everywhere.
Mobile devices with bar code reader are already more than common.

On clothes

Instead of several notices everywhere, a single code that link to a detailed description, how to wash it explanations, similar models, tips …

The code could lead to the page dedicated to the device with details, warranty, support, comments from the web community…

Estate agency

With the picture of the house or the flat and it’s basic description you can have the GPS position in the QR code and then directly check on Google map where it’s located with schools and shops all around the place.

TV news

While the nice girl is talking a code is shown in a corner, a scan and you have the details of the news with related articles photos and videos.

Flask permet en théorie de faire la même chose que TMPGEnc sauf que:

• pas d’extraction audio
• pas preview des key frames -> sélection laborieuse des extraits.

Donc Flask je suis désolé mais c’est vraiment pas une solution.

J’ai aussi testé l’outil FormatFactory (très pratique avec LiberKey) mais l’extraction n’a jamais été faite correctement et difficile de trouver un format compatible avec VirtualDub.

Il reste finalement l’excellent et incontournable VirtualDub. Très pratique pour le découpage de films numériques perso, il existe aussi une version pour découper les fichier .vob, les DVD.

Il y a deux méthodes pour faire une sauvegarde sur votre ordinateur d’un DVD souvenir (DVD non sécurisé): saut à l’élastique, plongée, body flying, etc :

• Copier le contenu du DVD (tous les fichiers .vob et autres) dans un repertoire sur votre disque dur (HDD).
• Créer une image ISO (un seul fichier ayant l’extension .iso)  du DVD sur votre ordinateur.

Les deux méthodes sont simples à réaliser mais la solution ISO est très utile pour pouvoir regraver rapidement et sans problème le DVD.
La solution ISO nécessite un outil capable de créer l’image et surtout de créer un lecteur DVD virtuel à partir de cette image.

Attention: ces deux méthodes ne sont en aucun cas une compression, si votre DVD fait 4 Gb de données, les fichiers sur votre disque dur feront la même taille.

Personnellement je fais des images ISO avec Daemon Tools mais il y a d’autres outils semblables.
Je peux ensuite manipuler le DVD via un lecteur virtuel sans plus toucher au DVD d’origine.

Si vous connaissez d’autre méthodes de sauvegarde ou d’autres outils intéressants pour sauvegarder les DVD, n’hésitez pas à laisser un message.

Why not using pictures?

• Background pictures are badly cached by Internet Explorer.
• Every use of picture is generating an http request that can slow down your page load.
• Every different styled box will need its own set of pictures.
• To avoid printing issues.
• Solution based on pictures are not scalable.
• The HTML code you will need to structure your styled box is heavier with pictures.
• The solution without pictures  is very easy, very flexible.

The idea

<div> are used instead of pictures to create the same visual effect.
A minimum of two <div> is enough to create the effect, more <div> you will use smoother and bigger will be your round corner.

The rounded effect is created thanks to the margins of the lines (borders) added before the header text of the styled box.

Many solution based on a JavaScript that customize a specific div are available on internet.
The method is the same as describe here but is more advanced and of course generate smoother rounded corner.

• Number can be negative
• Number can have or not decimals
• Separator may change in different countries
• Solution must be JSLint certified (because that the right way of coding)
• Solution should not alter existing prototype (because this really not a good idea)
• Solution must be cross browser compatible
